[Guide] installing basic things in ubntu

Hi All..

this assumes that you already have installed ubuntu on your pc )
for knowing how to install ubuntu visit here for a detailed tutorial by raul

So you installed ubuntu but unfortunately you cannot play media files by default

1.VLC media player

and all of us like the popular vlc player..
so let me begin with installing vlc player


1.


Click on Terminal

some thing like this will open



There Type the following Commands as it is

sudo su

it will ask for authentication ( password), type your pasword

apt-get update

Code:

apt-get install vlc mozilla-plugin-vlc

it will ask for confirmation that these packages will be installed..and you type y and then press enter
it will download the required files and the time required to download the packages will depend on your connection speed.and yahoo you have installed vlc mediaplayer on you ubuntu
