Beware !!! iPhone Clock’s Alarm dumps you !

The iPhone may serve as an eye candy for many people, but if you’re thinking about setting a one-off alarm to wake you up, highly avoidable.

Twitter was flooded with heavy comments and complaints about the alarm which failed to work right for many iPhone users around the world. This is an attempt to make you realize the problem being faced and be away from the same;Apple told Engadget.

Reporters ooze the pressure off the users by declaring the quick fix of the bug by January 3rd 2011.In the mean while,I can suggest you a safe and trustworthy app called It’s Best Alarm Clock, which wasn’t affected by the bug. It lets you choose to wake up to a variety of sounds, iPod music, or my favorite, a single vibration.I can change it’s characteristics with respect to colors, sound effects, current weather report. You could actually program different wake-up times for a particular day of the week.It can come in handy for those who have pretty different schedules from one day and another.

How to protect your passwords?

Hi,

I found this new website which offers a program to encrypt your passwords.

http://www.lockidpass.com

Once you are on the website, you will need to take the following next steps to start using this program.

  1. Select the "Products" option from the top hand nav menu
  2. Go to the "FOR USERS " section
  3. Drag and Drop the "Secure my Password" link to your Browser Toolbar.
  4. When you want to protect a password; after entering the password, click on the “Secure my Password” button on your Browser Toolbar.

That’s it. This is the easiest way to protect your passwords. When you click on this button, your password is encrypted and locked to your computer

This means even if your password is compromised, it cannot be used from a different computer.

Hide an archive inside a picture with no special programs

A short tutorial to show people how its possible to hide files within a picture file (especially png and jpeg files) and all you'll need is a program like WinRAR.

Firstly you'll need to find two things: the first is a picture that you'll use to hide your file in, the second is the actual file you want to hide.

Put both in the same folder, open a command prompt and navigate there.

Once there you'll need to put your file that you want to hide inside a zip file (rar or zip will work just fine, put a password or whatever if you want too). After this type the following into the command prompt:

Code:
Quote:
copy /b display.png + secret_message.rar fake.png

where display.png is the picture in which you want to hide the file, secret_message.rar is the file you want to hide and fake.png is the file name that you want the result to be created as.

After this is done open the newly created image file in your paint package and verify that it opens correctly. To see the hidden file all you need to do is open it in your favorite compression program and your done! One hidden file that can be uploaded to image sites and so forth.

As I said you can also put a password on the rar hidden rar file in order to add extra protection.

Enjoy!

Install a antivirus program on your computer. Norton and McAfee are two of the more popular software programs. When you purchase a computer one of these programs will be installed on the computer. The license will only last one year. You will need to pay for renewal after one year. The cost of the renewal is worth the security knowing your computer is safe from a virus. If you have more then one computer in your home then select the multiple pc for multiple years option. You will save money over the long run.

Run a malware program on your computer. There are plenty free versions on the internet. The program will search your computer for any malware that needs to be removed.

Set up Windows Internet Explorer to take advantage of some built in features.
- Delete browsing history on exit every time.
- Turn off pop-up blocker
- Review Microsoft security center. Is firewall turned on. Is automatic updates turned on. Is virus protection turned on.

An optional step is to install a utility program that helps keep your computer organized and running effectively. There are several products on the market. These programs help remove any unnecessary files that may remain on your computer, help fix errors that occur over time from using your computer daily, help improve system performance.

Develop a habit to run these programs on a daily/weekly basis. Virus and malware are always looking for opportunities to infect a computer.

The evolution of blogging

'Do you blog?' was one of the most happening questions a couple of years back. You were considered cool if you had one, and still cooler if you had one in a regional language! What made blogs happening? The fact that you could connect with a number of people scattered all over the world who'd know you for your words took the online world by storm. But then, you may ask are all blogs written by anonymous people? No, they are not. From celebs to common people, from cooking recipes to politics and space, there are thousands who blog about a zillion things under the sun and beyond it.

In a span of less than 5 years, blogging has evolved from being an online journal to sharing your thoughts from anywhere at any time. You can fix templates, update them and even blog from your mobile phones. And this, in a way gave rise to micro-blogging, with Twitter being first on the scene. So what exactly does one do on Twitter, you may ask. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on your account, visible on your friends' profiles, those that decide to 'follow' you. You can also tweet up links to your photos or videos. This is perhaps the quickest and chirpiest way to keep in touch with a lot of people.

But what happens if you are in a mood for writing more and not really as much as you would in a blog? Enter the concept of macro-blogging. This is a blogging concept that doesn't restrict your thoughts to 140 but doesn't let them go beyond 1400 characters. The most popular macro-blogging platform out there today is Woofer. But here's the catch - your macro-blog posts have to be exactly 1400 characters long. Talk about precision.

And that's not all - there's nano-blogging (less than 14 characters) and meso-blogging (lies somewhere between macro and micro-blogging, though we really can't comment on what multiple of 14 it is) as well. For the poetically inclined, there's Haiku blogging, via Japan's nano-blogging platform, Chuitter. And if words are not your chosen mode of communication, you can choose to spread your message via photo blogs or even video blogs.

We're waiting with bated breath to see what form blogs will take next.

windows 7 Tips Update...

They said Windows 7 was just a cosmetic upgrade, a more polished version of Vista with little to offer beyond the new wallpaper.

They couldn’t have been more wrong.

Look beyond the headlines about interface tweaks and you’ll find Windows 7 is crammed with lesser known, but still important, new and enhanced features, which taken together deliver improved performance and productivity, better troubleshooting, stronger security and a whole lot more.

Read on for 50 ways in which Windows 7 will make a real difference to your PC.
1. Problem Steps Recorder
As the local PC guru you’re probably very used to friends and family asking for help with their computer problems, yet having no idea how to clearly describe what’s going on. It’s frustrating, but Microsoft feels your pain, and Windows 7 will include an excellent new solution in the Problem Steps Recorder.

When any app starts misbehaving under Windows 7 then all your friends need do is click Start, type PSR and press Enter, then click Start Record. If they then work through whatever they’re doing then the Problem Steps Recorder will record every click and keypress, take screen grabs, and package everything up into a single zipped MHTML file when they’re finished, ready for emailing to you. It’s quick, easy and effective, and will save you hours of troubleshooting time.
50 Tips More

Bubble(Fastest browser with complete privacy)

Bubbles is an application platform, based on Browser technologies. It detaches Web Applications from the classic Browser and offers them with the familiar accessibility, capabilities and always-on nature of Desktop applications
What’s a Site-Specific Bubbles (SSB) ?

These are a browser that is focused on a specific site, and adds features to that site. Less is often more, why treat your email the same way you treat driving directions to Aunt Betsy. SSBs also focus on making your frequently used sites more accessible. In Windows this means your SSBs are running all the time, are a click a way - on the system tray and are generally more lightweight and, well, just yummy. SSBs will usually use an existing browsing engine and extend it with new features.
What do you mean by accessible?

We mean that your important stuff is there for you. Remember when things like Email used to be desktop applications (Outlook, Thunderbird), Bubbles tries to make the new web-based applications more like that.
Create shortcuts to your frequently used web applications right on your desktop:

It will always be waiting for you on the system tray:

Want to Alt-Tab to your app, no problem:

Support for drag and drop of local files

Remember how dragging a photo into Picasa imports that photo into an album? Think for a second what happens when you drag that photo into a browser… right, the browser shows you that photo. Bubbles allows web-sites to accept files that are dropped on them, so our example Flickr extension for Bubbles makes uploading new photos as easy as dragging them into the Flickr Bubble!

System tray icon and context-menu

Since your favorite web-application now has residence in your system tray, we may as well put it to use. The system tray icon can be changed in real-time to indicate different statuses (new email, awaiting chat message, etc). Right clicking the icon opens up a Context Menu which, just like with a Desktop application, allows you to quickly start actions (Compose mail, goto main page, See friend list, etc)

Notifications

Notifications are an integral part of having a fluent user experience with your frequently used applications. Remember how Outlook briefly flashed you with a little window telling you new mail has arrived, how calendar alerts popped on the screen and how any application that wanted to tell you something had a way of doing it…

Web applications have always had two issues that stopped them from providing users with this sort of experience. The first is that they aren’t always running - what if you don’t have a tab with GMail open right now. The second problem is that browsers don’t really let web applications to do much outside of the browser window itself.
Bubbles overcomes both of these problems, making it a fantastic platform to provide notifications with. Your important Bubbles are running all the time, so when new data flows in (e.g. new mai, new story, new bid) - the user can be notified. The second is an API for full HTML notifications letting Web applications popup fully customizable notification windows, the ones users have grown to expect:

User styles explained

User styles are pieces of code that affect the way websites and the interface of certain programs look and feel. User styles can do things like remove ads, provide a different colour scheme, and change fonts.
Programs that support user styles

Mozilla-based programs like Firefox and Thunderbird can use Stylish to manage their user styles. This is the recommended way to use user styles. When used in Mozilla-based programs, user styles can also affect the program's user interface.
Mozilla-based programs also provide built-in support for user styles with the userContent.css and userChrome.css files. There is no user interface to these files, so managing multiple user styles is difficult. Additionally, you must restart the program every time you add, change, or remove user styles. This is why Stylish is recommended.
Other web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Opera support user styles, but do not have interfaces for them either. They do not allow user styles to change the program user interface.
